House Price is a static rebuild, not a live database. A Python script reads licensed files from data/raw/, computes a handful of summary statistics, and writes HTML, JSON and a sitemap.
Ingest
- Eurostat PRC_HPI_Q (unit I15_Q, purchase TOTAL) is used for a European geography only when the last observation is in 2023 or later. Discontinued Brexit-era UK Eurostat HPI is not used.
- United Kingdom headline index: UK House Price Index monthly United Kingdom Index, averaged to quarters, then rebased so the 2015 mean equals 100. Values are not spliced onto Eurostat.
- Australia headline index: ABS mean price of residential dwellings (Australia), rebased so the 2015 mean equals 100. The discontinued ABS Residential Property Price Index is not used.
- Other economies use OECD Analytical House Prices, measure HPI, quarterly, unit IX. The OECD SDMX-JSON dump is stale for some countries (historical AUS/NZL/KOR HPI stops in the 1990s/2001). Those are replaced, not spliced, with the OECD GetData recent window or with a national series when we have one.
- We never splice an old vintage onto a new one for the same economy.
- Year-over-year change is derived: (index / index four quarters earlier − 1) × 100. It is labelled derived.
- Real house prices are OECD measure RHP. Price-to-income is OECD measure HPI_YDH. The same current-vintage rule applies.
- OECD aggregate codes OECD, EA17 and WXOECD are dropped, as are China and Russia. The euro-area desk uses Eurostat EA20.
- Private listing-site indexes (CoreLogic, REINZ retail products) and BIS series are not used. RBNZ M10 is not ingested (access and CoreLogic provenance).
- Series with fewer than four observations are omitted from the headline index. Rankings use the latest quarter available for that economy.
What we do not do
We do not fill a gap with an interpolation or mix CoreLogic, FHFA, or other unpaid commercial indexes. Rebasing the UK HPI and ABS mean prices to 2015=100 is a scale change only, labelled on those citations. Private listing-site indexes are out of scope.
Charts and tables
Charts are quarterly. The all-countries chart starts with the twelve largest latest readings; the legend and the table let you add or remove economies. Range buttons filter the view only. Country desks chart that country plus a related-country set.

Pages load Google AdSense (publisher id ca-pub-6557770900386479, listed in ads.txt). There are no reserved layout boxes on the page; ads may still appear through the network script.
